5 Reasons to Visit Orange in Winter

While it's beautiful all year around, there's something special about visiting Orange in winter! Indulge in some world-class food, visit a cosy cellar door and enjoy a tasting by the fire, and treat yourself to a shopping spree. Grab your warm coat and let's go!

1. Eat up a storm

There is no shortage of stunning restaurants in Orange - from the hatted Charred restaurant for fine-dining, Raku for a modern twist on Japanese food, or Union Bank Hotel for stunning modern Australian cuisine. There are also plenty of cafes serving up stellar coffee to get you started for the day - Byng St Corner Store, Groundstone and Good Eddy are favourites.

2. Stay in a cozy place overnight

Looking for somewhere to rest your weary head? Check in to Byng St Hotel, a boutique hotel that is a centrally located and beautifully renovated historical homestead. Another option is Basalt, luxury studio accommodation offering located on a family-owned cherry orchard 15 minutes out of town.

3. Check out the great shopping

Visit Jumbled for an eclectic collection of curated fashion and homewares, and Hawkes General Store for a great range of babywear, books and clothing. Another unmissable stop on your shopping spree is Mary and Tex Curious Emporium, a unique furniture and lifestyle store.

4. Enjoy a wine tasting at Colmar Estate by the fire

Producing some of Australia’s best cool-climate wines, Orange is home to over 80 vineyards and wineries. At an altitude of 980 metres, Colmar Estate is one of the highest vineyards in the country and a unique site to grow high quality wine grapes. Join us for a tasting and sample a selection of single vineyard wines whilst taking in the gorgeous vista. Plus, there's a fire place to keep you nice and cozy!

5. Experience the Winter Fire Festival

Every August, Orange hosts the Winter Fire Festival, a celebration of winter with numerous events hosted by local producers. From sipping mulled wine at the markets in Millthorpe, to live music and fire twirling in Eugowra, there's something to do for everyone. This year the festival is running from 4th - 13th August 2023.

We hope to see you for a visit soon!
